Boyd Lewis
Director of Curriculum and Instruction
This is Mr. Lewis’ fourth year with Zuni Public Schools, second as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. He was hired in July 2019 as the assistant principal at Zuni Middle school. In July of 2020 he was named the principal of Zuni Middle School. He spent his two years at Zuni middle school feverishly working to create a positive culture of academic success and high standards for all staff and students. In July of 2021 he was hired as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Mr. Lewis has a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of New Mexico and a Masters of Arts in Education Leadership from American College of Education. He is a dedicated and driven educator who believes each and every student has the ability to learn and wants them to reach their full potential. Mr. Lewis spent 15 years in the classroom working tirelessly to implement best practices to motivate and reach his students, so they could reach their maximum potential as learners. Mr. Lewis wholeheartedly believes that literacy is the foundation to a successful educational experience. He also believes that literacy skills are the gateway to success in all subject areas. “Literacy skills need to be taught early and continuously”. In 2014, Mr. Lewis was the Gallup Mckinley County Teacher of the Year recipient and a finalist for the New Mexico Teacher of the Year award.
As the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Mr. Lewis hopes to utilize his experiences as a classroom teacher to help drive teacher development and create a sustainable learning environment conducive to all students feeling successful as learners. He strives to establish a culture of high academic expectations for all ZPSD students. He is very excited to be part of the Zuni Public School District team and is looking forward to helping students reach their full potential.
In his spare time Mr. Lewis enjoys woodworking projects and is a huge sports fan. He enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. His two oldest daughters, Jordyn and Kourtney, and his wife are all education majors. Mr. Lewis is very proud they have chosen to follow in his footsteps as educators.
