Open Communication Policy
ZPSD encourages you to discuss any issue you may have with a co-worker directly with that person. If a
resolution is not reached, please arrange a meeting with your supervisor to discuss any concern, problem or
issue that arises during the course of your employment. Retaliation against any employee for the appropriate
use of communication channels is unacceptable. Please remember it is counterproductive for employees to
create or repeat rumors or gossip.

The success of ZPSD depends upon the quality of the relationships between ZPSD, our employees, volunteers, customers and community. Our customers' impressions of ZPSD and their interest and willingness to send their children to our schools are greatly influences by the people who serve them. You are a representative of ZPSD. Director of Human Resources
Donavan Yazzie was born and raised in Northwestern New Mexico. After graduating high school he worked in retail and eventually served as human resource manager and comptroller. He worked within the automotive industry for 10 years while attending college to become an educator.
Mr. Yazzie graduated from the University of New Mexico and received his bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and later received a Master’s in Special Education from Western New Mexico University. He taught as an educator from 2008 – 2014 and while teaching attended UNM to receive an ED.s. in Educational Leadership. Prior to his employment with Zuni Public School District, Mr. Yazzie served as an Instructional Coach and a dean of students. Mr. Yazzie served Shiwi Ts'ana as an assistant principal from August 2018 to March 2019.
Mr. Yazzie enjoys working with students, staff, and parents within the public education system. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. It is his hope that we ensure a successful future by always doing what is in the best interest of our most valuable assets, our children and students.
