Randy Stickney
Superintendent
Mrs. Stickney began her employment with the Zuni Public School District in July 2014 as the Director of Instructional Support Services. She served as the Acting Superintendent for the 2020-2021 school year. Then beginning July 1, 2021, she officially took over as Superintendent for Zuni Schools.
Prior to coming to ZPSD, she served as Superintendent for Hammon Public Schools in Oklahoma for 12 years. In addition, her responsibilities included Federal Programs; Special Education; grant writing and oversight; and Child Nutrition.
During her tenure at Hammon, the district successfully secured low interest bond monies to renovate the Elementary School; passed it's first-ever bond issue to construct a district-wide cafeteria and monolithic dome gymnasium which also serves as the community-wide storm shelter; installed security cameras on busses and security systems at building entrances; started a Boys and Girls Club; and received the 21st Century and Carol White PE grants.
Mrs. Stickney was honored by her peers as the Oklahoma Association of School Administrator's (OASA) District 13 Administrator of the Year and was active in community projects such as serving as president of the local public library board and as president of a civic organization responsible for providing scholarships to students.
Before going to Hammon Schools, Mrs. Stickney served as Superintendent for Ninnekah Public Schools in Oklahoma for 8 years. Other responsibilities included Federal Programs; Special Education; Child Nutrition; Transportation; grant writing and oversight; and Library Media. During her tenure at Ninnekah, the district successfully passed a bond issue to renovate the Elementary School and partial renovation of the gymnasium and received the Oklahoma State Department of Education Small School Oklahoma Cost Accounting System (OCAS) award for accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
Ms. Stickney also was honored by her peers as the first female superintendent in Grady County. During her twenty years as superintendent in Oklahoma, she was active in Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA), OASA and Organization of Rural Oklahoma Schools (OROS). She served on the Superintendent's Advisory Councils for both the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Oklahoma State Department of CareerTech.
Mrs. Stickney began her educational career in Comanche Public Schools where she served in a variety of positions including High School Counselor, Library Media Specialist, Gifted/Talented Teacher, Academic Team Coach, Yearbook Advisor, Creative Writing Teacher and French Teacher.
Mrs. Stickney obtained her Bachelors of Arts in Education in Speech Communications from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. She was honored as top graduate with a 4.00 grade point average. She was on the college debate team and co-recipient of the Linscheid Award for Outstanding Public Speaker. She received her Masters of Education in Counseling from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She was co-recipient of the honor of top graduate with a 4.00 grade point average.
In addition, Mrs. Stickney completed principal's certification from East Central. She received her superintendent's certification and additional post-graduate work with an emphasis in School Law from the University of Oklahoma (OU) and University of Oklahoma Law School in Norman. While at OU, she served as editor of the publication for the National Organization for Legal Proceedings in Education (NOLPE) and as research associate for the Department of Educational Leadership.
She firmly ascribes to Stephen Covey's tenet that we should not be products of our circumstances, but rather we should be products of our decisions. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Chris, Elementary Counselor for ZPSD. They have been married for over 40 years.
