Zuni High School is a public high school. The school opened in 1947. In 2007, ZHS graduated it's 60th class.  Most of the classes are small, which means students get more individual attention and help. During pre-registration for their freshmen year, all students will develop a four-year plan for graduation. In selecting courses for the school year, students should make careful course selections after examining graduation requirements and course descriptions and consulting parents, teachers, and counselors. Course selections should reflect the student's four-year plan and his/her career goals.

Zuni High offers basic classes like math and English, college-preparatory classes such as chemistry and higher math, and distance education classes, which are classes that students watch on television. there are also area vocational classes. The AVS classes are held at Twin Buttes High and also at the UNM branch in Gallup.

Our goal at Zuni High School is to strengthen effectiveness of communication within the Zuni Public School District and the Zuni community by working with students, staff, and parents to develop learners.
Create a climate of high expectations for all students, staff, and parents to ensure academic excellence in all subject areas.

Continue to increase attendance, decrease tardiness, and lower student dropout rates.
Implement programs and activities to improve Zuni and English language communication skills for all students and staff.

In addition to challenging classes, Zuni High also offers many extra-curricular activities. There is a drama club, Student Council, National Honor Society, MESA (Math, Science, Engineering and Achievement) Club, and there are peer tutors. There is also an Art Club, and the Art Department is one of the best in the state. Sports at the school include football, volleyball, cross-country, girls and boys basketball, track, and softball.

An Honor Roll is published each quarter for grades 9 - 12. Teachers vote on students who demonstrate excellence in Athletics, Academics, and Achievement - one student is elected as the Triple A student of the month. There is also a choosing of a senior to be the Rotary Senior of the Month - based upon GPA, attendance, and community activities.

Create and maintain a safe and drug-free environment in all district sites by implementing programs and activities that foster respect for self, others, and the environment.
