Zuni Public School District is a unique and
progressive educational system currently undergoing extensive
restructuring and reorganization to better meet the educational
needs of our children. This year, three of our schools are
associated with America’s Choice. Two other schools within the
district have made AYP and hold no NCLB designations. All schools
and programs operate under the directed site-based model It is the intent of the Zuni Public School District to create a thoughtful and nurturing environment in which all stakeholders collaborate in restructuring the system to better meet the needs of the students now and in the future. Parents volunteer at all the schools
in a variety of settings and there are "parent work nights" during
which parents and teachers work together making the "extras" that
are needed for classrooms including furniture, costumes, paint
smocks, computer covers, etc.
It is the philosophy of the Zuni
Public School District that the schools exist to help students
develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to be a
productive member of society. Education is a continuous part of the
life process and the schools share this process responsibility with
the home and the community. The schools must provide a solid
foundation to assist the students to become functioning members of
the family, the Zuni community and world outside the community. We
believe that education should prepare the student for the highly
complex and pluralistic world of today and the future. |
