Principal’s Message
As Principal of the Twin Buttes High School (TBHS), I am
pleased to welcome you to our website.
TBHS began as the “Zuni Learning Center” in the late 1970’s,
and became part of the Zuni Public School District in 1983.
Throughout the last 25 years, TBHS has been involved in a
number of different approaches designed to increase student
achievement. Some of these approaches include “thematic
units” and school-wide activities centered on “essential
questions.”
Since becoming part of the Zuni Public School District, TBHS
has evolved into a “small” high school. Students attend our
school because this is where they want to be. With a small
staff and approximately 60 students, we have an excellent
opportunity to personalize instruction in order to best
determine our students’ strengths and weaknesses in terms of
academic performance.
Many exciting things are happening at TBHS.
Students at the Agriculture Management Class have continued
to build on the foundation of the class greenhouse project.
As a matter of fact, the Sundance Channel visited the school
and did some filming of the project! The segment is to air
sometime in the spring.
TBHS also runs the “Jobs for America’s Graduates” Program
(JAG). One of the primary purposes for the JAG Program is to
help students be better prepared for the workforce upon
graduation form high school.
TBHS has a very active Student Council that, this year, has
initiated a recycling project for aluminum, newspapers, and
other recyclable materials.
Currently, TBHS is planning for a major renovation project
that will occur between the winter break and the beginning
of the 2008-09 school year. While the renovation takes
places, the students and staff will be temporarily relocated
to another site in the district. Students and staff will
then return to the renovated facility next fall. We all are
very excited about the prospects of having a newly renovated
school!
Thank you for your interest in Twin Buttes High School.
