 Message from the Director

Welcome to the ZPSD Support Services home page. We are responsible for providing high quality support services to the students, faculty and staff of the District and the public which we serve. Our goal is to exceed your expectations in both quality of work and timeliness of response.

We provide a wide variety of services, including Facilities Management and Maintenance; Food Services; Transportation; Safety and Security; and procurement and central warehousing.

There are many exciting projects underway in the Support Services Department.

  • We are nearing completion of our new teacherage project, which will provide 36 brand new apartments for faculty and staff. Completion of these units will enable us to renovate and rehabilitate some of our older apartments, and to vacate those which are beyond economical repair.

  • Our transportation staff is busy providing transportation for students to and from school and to activities throughout the state. We are replacing our aging bus fleet as well as District vehicles. We have recently purchased four hybrid vehicles to help “green” the environment.

  • Working in conjunction with the Tribal Healthy Lifestyles program, our food service group promotes healthy choices in our menus. This program starts with kindergarten and goes through high school students. This is done by providing the students with multiple entrée choices and various offerings within each entrée. We are one of the few districts in the State which has this program throughout all grades.

  • Our Safety and Security staff is active in promoting the national Safe Schools initiative by working directly with students, faculty and parents to make our schools as safe as possible.

  • Our central warehouse now provides receiving and warehousing services for the District as a whole. We now provide receiving services for all deliveries for each site, and package receipt for personal items sent to staff members.

Dowa Yalanne Teacherage and Twin Buttes
Teacherage Renovation Project

We are in the process of upgrading and renovating some teacherage apartments in both the Dowa Yalanne and Twin Buttes communities. We have started on units which are vacant, and our plans are to continue to upgrade apartments in these areas as they become vacant.

Dowa Yallane Teacherage

Three units are being renovated, and one is scheduled to start in the near future.

As an example of the work undertaken, we have replaced cabinets in the kitchens and bathrooms; have re-painted and re-textured walls and ceilings as needed; have refinished doors; and where needed have replaced the vinyl tile in the living room and bedrooms with laminate flooring, and replaced the tile in the kitchen and bath with sheet vinyl. We installed ceiling fans in the living spaces and have generally upgraded the apartments.

New pro-panel metal roofs were installed on two duplex apartments at DY and others are scheduled for the summer months assuming funding is available.

Twin Buttes Teacherage

We are about to conclude the sewerage project to upgrade the sewer lines supporting the Twin Buttes teacherage. This should make a significant difference in the number of maintenance calls for blocked sewer lines. This is a $180,000 project that was funded by the Public School Capital Outlay Council as an emergency request.

We are beginning renovations on three of the one bedroom apartments at Twin Buttes. We expect to do a similar renovation to those at Dowa Yalanne to include new kitchen cabinetry and flooring; new bathroom fixtures as needed; painting and texturing; refinishing wood finishes on doors and new flooring in the living spaces.

We will be assessing the roofing needs at the Twin Buttes apartments for replacement as needed this summer. Included in this work will be new seamless guttering for each building.
