KAYE L. PEERY, PH. D.
email
Dr. Peery was unanimously appointed Superintendent of Zuni Public
School District in May of 2006. The Zuni Board of Education and
Superintendent Peery immediately developed a sound plan to address
deficiencies and major concerns of the district. Under
Superintendent Peery’s leadership, significant progress has been
made toward developing and following sound financial practices,
quality human resource services and state of the art technology.
Major changes in curriculum and instructional delivery will be
implemented this school year in an effort to improve academic
performance of the district’s middle school and two high schools.
Both Elementary schools have made AYP for two or more years and have
no NCLB designations.
A Note from Our Superintendent
Zuni Public School District is in the midst of significant and
exciting changes. We have adopted a new math curriculum that is
aligned vertically from Kindergarten to 12th grade, as well as with
New Mexico Standards and Benchmarks. Zuni Middle School, Zuni High
School and Twin Buttes High School will be delivering remediation
and intervention instruction in reading and math utilizing the
America’s Choice model.
Our two elementary schools are exemplary and have made AYP two or
more years, removing them from NCLB designations. Staff and site
administration is stable and consistent. Parent involvement is
strong and enthusiastic. Most classes have an enrollment less than
20 students with a full time educational assistant. We have a strong
Zuni Language Program supported and endorsed by the district, Zuni
Tribal Leadership and the New Mexico Public Education Department.
Many of our teachers are endorsed in ELL, Bilingual or TEOSL.
It is an exciting time to be a part of the educational team
here in Zuni.
